I finally have a case that fits perfectly. This was my third time at ordering a case for my 16 inch Viola. The other two cases ranged from way too small to just a fraction of an inch too small. This case cost a lot more than the others, but I now have a substantive tool to protect my Viola, and provide space for accessories. This case is adjustable for an even larger viola, with lots of padding on all sides, and a full length pocket for music on the top, and a smaller music book sized pocket on the other. There are pen/ pencil holders, and a small zippered pocket in each outer pocket that would hold a bus pass, or cash. My Kun shoulder rest would not fit on the drawer, but it fi into the Velcro fasteners in the top near the peg box.My only complaint is with the bow holders. I have to be real careful when closing them or It gets caught on the bow hairs. There is no where to push them more snugly up, and the bows only fit in direction.I removed one star for the grief caused by having to be careful with the bows. This is a solid case. Even my 11 year old nephew who has been found to be less than responsible with his instrument would have to work very hard to damage it if securely fastened in this case. Case is a little heavier than I expected, but then I have several music books.I ordered the extra backpack type straps available here at Amazon.Very well-designed and well made case. Lots of room for music, holding straps for a shoulder pad. However, the bow holders are too small. I can't get my second bow into the upper holder without destroying the hair. My main bow fits better into the bottom holder but the latch still presses on the hair. It's odd they should have missed on such an important detail.They make no secret of the fact that it is large and heavy. And it really is. The upside is that it seems very solid.With the majority of the reviews being quite positive, I was very excited to purchase this viola case for my daughter's new 15.75" viola. Unfortunately, I will be returning the case for a variety of reasons. Whilst the case is sturdy and well made, the little details, like velcro instead of snaps to secure the viola padding to the inside of the case and velcro on the outside flap (outside of the zipper) make me feel as though I am not getting my money's worth. The biggest problem, however, is the bow clips. The main part of the clips, the "finger" that sticks out of the inner surface of the case, is far too short to hold the bow. The bow I tested it with is not that of an unusual width. I hesitate to use this case because the bow clips cut into the strings of the bow, which might ruin even the finest bow. One could actually save money by buying a more substantial case with taller bow clips, and not have to replace the bow every six months.Nice case, but will NOT fit a 17.5" viola. The Strad pattern 17.5" viola has an 11" lower bout. The interior of the case is only 10.5" wide. My son's viola is a Gliga 17.5" professional viola and doesn't fit. I am told that the HS2167W case will fit a 17.5 viola. The confusing thing is that the width in the description for this case (13") is larger than for the HS2167W (10.8"). Measure the width of the lower bout of your viola. If it is larger than 10.5 inches, get a larger case.I LOVE this case. It's smaller than my previous case, but has more room. Has a strap for the chin rest so it it's just wedged in or floating around. I have a 16 inch viola and I had an inch to spare. The velcro adjuster snugged up perfectly. There is room for several music books on the outside, and there is a larger area that can hold larger music if you need it to. Places for pens, pencils, rosin, mutes, and the tuner. This case is balanced. So even after adding my books to one side, it doesn't tip over like my previous case was constantly doing. Feels durable, with thicker zippers and comfortable grips.I purchased this for my thirteen year old son whose old case was unreliable. This is a huge case in comparison to his old minimal case. Absolutely max protection. Even though it is big he likes it a lot, especially with the backpack strap (purchased separately). He also likes that it is large enough to carry his music.As a traveling orchestra Teacher, this case is perfect for holding essential teaching tools. Only drawback is it gets heavy, but not too heavy!I got a very large wide bottomed viola when I picked it out and none of the cases in the store would work for my viola. This viola case has movable parts to make sure your viola fits in it, and fits securely. It has been a great case so far!Excellent case to accommodate an expensive baroque viola!
