I am a long time Asics fan. I have wrestled, run or walked in an Asics for the last 40+ years. I have tried multiple other brands throughout the years and have always remained an Asics fan. I absolutely love the Kayano for running. In the last 20 years I have really gotten all the more into running, runking, and hiking trails. And again, Asics had the best overall shoe for me. The Fujitrabuco has been awesome... until NOW. This new Trabuco Max is beyond words! The cushioning combined with stability is unmatched by any shoe I have ever worn. The Kayano extended my ability to run/walk on pavement. Now this shoe will help me stay all the more active on trails!Update:So I have a number of miles in with this shoe. Even better than my first impressions. Still don't like the inability to (easily) change the lace set-up, but that's still a minor quibble. In fact, love these shoes so much that I've already bought a second pair. Massively comfortable and helpful for an old soldier like me who has bad knees and a bad back.Honestly, best running shoe I've worn in a very long time.Still a very enthusiastic "5 stars."Original Review:For $10 more one gets a far superior shoe in comparison to the Gel Trabuco 9. It's not even close.Having said that, even though I rated this Max edition at 5 stars it has one glaring problem: the laces. I don't lace my shoes the way Asics supplied them. But unless I cut the laces I can't relace them. That's both a problem (minor) and an annoyance (major). C'mon, Asics, what were you thinking?Very comfortable. Runs about 1/2 size smaller than Asics' usual "run small" sizing (I wear 11.5 in Asics but had to go up to 12 for the Max. I wanted to compare the Max with the Trabuco 9 and ordered a 12 in the Trabuco 9 and it was too big; the usual 11.5 would have sufficed).Yes, more expensive than the Gel Nimbus, but worth it I think. Meaning I plan to run in this Max edition on not only trails but also on the road (instead of upgrading to the new Nimbus). One other thing I like about this Trabuco Max is that my foot doesn't swim in the toe box like it does in the Trabuco 9 or Nimbus 23.Not a perfect "5 stars," but close enough.5 stars.Great shoe and feel comfortable.. walking very wellThe shoes fit well as most Asics I buy. They are a bit softer than I am accustomed too, almost to the point of a little unstable. Not great with wearing pants as the tongue is so pronounced at the back, trouser bottoms usually get stuck behing it.This are the best most comfortable running fitness shoes ever wear i am a dmfan of asics for iver 20 years + normaly kayano is my choise but now trabuco is so soft to run at my 59’ i wish they had this back in the 89’But i will reconend this not 5 stars 7 a plus pkus !!I love everything about these shoes. Everything.Great shoe, very cushioned but not sloppy. Cambered (curved) sole nice touch, helps reduce fatigue. But why take off the ratchet lacing system on the previous trabucos. I've had two pairs and the dial ratchet works great, easy to adjust laces anytime. The tab clip on this shoe is difficult to adjust and leaves the tab with excess lace flopping around when you run. Please go back to the ratchet button. Also like most Asics runs small, size up 1/2 size.Ran with my new Trabuco Max shoes for the first time a couple days ago. Great looking shoes. I was skeptical about the gaither lacing system, but the system was easy to snug up and it held snug for the duration of my 2 mile circuit.Shoes are true to size and width and have great cushioning. I normally run on pavement, but the trail lug soles add just a tad more cushioning for my 66 year old knees and feet. I bought some Trabuco 9s about 2 months ago and while the 9s are great shoes, too, I'm a bit partial to the Trabuco Max after having run in them. I recommend both the Trabuco Max and the Trabuco 9.Could not believe the price I paid ...so comfortable as well. The shoe is simply outstanding in terms of comfort - walking for an hour without any foot fatigue. No rocks protruding into the sole. The curvature in the front adds to the comfort. The laces could be better.
